Inclement Weather Updates

Update: February 22, 2026

NYC Public Schools will have a full snow day on Monday February 23, 2026. No online school, no remote learning. We will provide an update tomorrow regarding the status for Tuesday, including whether instruction will be in person, remote, or if schools will remain closed. Check schools.nyc.gov for the latest information on school reopening plans.

Please stay safe. Stay indoors during the height of the storm.

Update: February 21, 2026

Dear Families,

I want to take a moment to clarify what families can expect in the event that the NYC Department of Education closes buildings due to weather and designates the day as a remote instruction day.

For students in Kindergarten through Grade 5, remote learning will take place through Google Classroom. Students should log in using their school-issued Google account, and teachers will share live lessons and activities through this platform. If you need your child’s login information or support accessing Google Classroom, please reach out directly to your child’s classroom teacher and or Ms. Marrero.

Remote learning for our 3K and Pre-K students looks a little different and is designed to be developmentally appropriate and family-friendly. Teachers will offer short, live sessions through Google Meet and or Zoom, focused on songs, stories, play-based activities, and social connection. Screen time will be limited, and much of the learning will happen through play and everyday activities at home.

To support remote learning, school devices were recently provided to selected students in Grades 3–5. These devices were distributed based on student need and the increased level of digital interaction required in upper elementary grades. All students are welcome to use a school-issued device. If your child needs to borrow a device for remote learning, please contact Ms. Marrero or Ms. Echeverri, and we will work with you to ensure your child has access when remote instruction is required.

Attendance will be taken on all remote instruction days. A student is considered present for remote learning if they attend at least one of the live (synchronous) instruction sessions during the school day. This may include live whole-class, small-group, or individual instruction; scheduled time for students or families to connect with teachers for help; activities that support students’ social and emotional well-being; live feedback or progress check-ins; or conferences with students or families. Participation in at least one live session during the day is sufficient for a student to be marked present, and, most importantly, stay connected with your child.

We understand that family schedules vary, and teachers will continue to work closely with families to support engagement. Our goal is always to help every student attend school every day, whether learning happens in person or remotely.

If you have any questions, need help with login information, or need to borrow a device, please reach out to Ms. Marrero and Ms. Echeverri.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

Respectfully,

Jean Marie McInerney
