Morning Drop-Off
Morning Drop-Off is at 8:15am every day, located in the school’s 19th Street Courtyard Entrance between 6th and 7th Avenues for all grades: 3-K, Pre-K, and Grades K–5.
Prompt arrival is strongly recommended between 8:15–8:20 am on weekdays for a timely start to the day.
3-K and Pre-K students and families enter the building starting at 8:15am through the Courtyard. Families are required to escort their 3-K and Pre-K child and stay with them until 8:20am when teachers arrive.
3-K families will enter Door 4 and proceed to the Movement Room (B 107).
Pre-K families will enter Door 8 and proceed to the Theater Arts Studio (Room B 104).
Students in Grades K–5 can enter the Courtyard at 8:15am and line-up with their classmates. At 8:20am, school staff will direct each class to enter the building and meet their teachers in the classroom.
In the case of inclement or freezing weather, students will not line-up in the Courtyard at 8:15, but instead enter the building and then staff will direct them to their classrooms.
Our school offers a free and healthy breakfast between 8:00–8:15am every school day. Students can use the 19th Street Courtyard Entrance and will be directed to the Cafeteria. At 8:20, school staff will guide these students to their classrooms.
The Courtyard will be closed by 8:25am. If you arrive after that, you have to go around to the opposite side of the building to the 18th Street Lobby Entrance. An adult will need to accompany your child into the building to sign-in. Late passes will be given to students who arrive after 8:25am and directed to their classroom.
The school is closed to visitors and families 8:00—8:25am. The only exception will be families with 3-K and Pre-K students who are waiting with their child to connect with their teachers every day.
If you are planning to attend a morning event at PS 295, you will wait in the 19th Street Courtyard and complete the sign-in sheet. Please bring your photo identification for entry.
Afternoon Pick-Up
Afternoon Pick-Up is at 2:35pm every day, located in the school’s 19th Street Courtyard Entrance between 6th and 7th Avenues for all grades: 3-K, Pre-K, and Grades K–5.
Courtyard opens promptly at 2:35pm on regular school days at 11:20am on half days. Families are encouraged to arrive on-time to wait for your child’s class.
3-K and Pre-K families are required to enter the building starting at 2:35pm through the Courtyard and wait for your child’s class.
3-K families will enter Door 4 and proceed to the Movement Room (B 107).
Pre-K families will enter Door 8 and proceed to the Theater Arts Studio (Room B 104).
During inclement or freezing weather, students will be dismissed from each of the Courtyard doors instead of outside.
The Courtyard will be closed by 2:45pm. If you arrive after that, you have to go around to the opposite side of the building to the 18th Street Lobby Entrance. An adult will need to connect with school staff and sign-out your child.
The school is closed to visitors and families 1:50—2:40pm. The only exception will be families with 3-K and Pre-K students who are waiting to connect with their classes every day.
In case you need to occasionally pick-up your child early, all early pick-ups must take place before 1:50pm. This allows the staff enough time to notify your child, help them gather their belongings, and escort them to the Main Office to sign-out. If you arrive after that, you will need to wait until regular dismissal at 2:35pm.
Safety and Security
At PS 295, there are two “windows of safety and security” that take place during arrival and dismissal times. During these times no visitors, including parents or guardians, will be allowed in the school building. We appreciate your cooperation to ensure your child’s safety.
The first window of safety and security is for morning arrival. It is from 8:00—8:25am.
The second window of safety and security is for dismissal. It is from 1:50–2:40pm on regular school days and at 11:00–11:40am on half days.
The only visitors that will be allowed will be the parents for 3-K and Pre-K who are to follow the arrival and dismissal procedures outlined above.
If you are picking up your student early from school, you need to plan for arriving at the 18th Street Lobby Entrance before 1:50pm on regular school days (or before 11:00am on half days). If you arrive after that, you will need to wait until regular dismissal at 2:35pm (or after 11:20am on half days).

There are seven class periods throughout the day, which also incorporates time for lunch, recess, and special classes such as art, theater, gym, dance, and music. Please note: this schedule is subject to change.
Arrival: 8:20—8:25am
Period 1: 8:25—9:15am
Period 2: 9:20—10:10am
Period 3: 10:15—11:05am
Period 4: 11:10am—12:00pm
Period 5: 12:05—12:55pm
Period 6: 1:00—1:50pm
Period 7: 1:55—2:35pm
Dismissal: 2:35—2:40pm
