Buzzy the Bee

Buzzy the Bee is the PS 295 school mascot, named by our 2025-26 school community.

Buzzy is a bumblebee who lives in a cozy hive right here in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Buzzy uses they/them pronouns.

Most mornings, Buzzy visits community gardens, window boxes, and every brave little flower growing up through a sidewalk crack. Bees help those plants grow, which help support our local ecosystems and natural waterways — so taking care of the neighborhood is kind of Buzzy's whole job.

During the school day, Buzzy loves to make things at PS 295. Painting, dancing, singing, playing music, building something new, telling great stories, and listening to their fellow students.

Buzzy believes everybody has something inside them worth sharing! That's why Buzzy's favorite sound isn't buzzing — it's the sound of a student speaking up. Trying something new. Being exactly who they are.

Here at PS 295, Buzzy is always right here beside you: reminding you to bee kind, bee brave, bee you!

In addition to the plush figure you’ll find around campus, a minimalist bumblebee icon appears across school materials and signs, bringing a unified design to the school mascot for the first time in 30 years.
